Dr. Linda J. Banta, MD received a degree in the B.A. undergraduate studies from the University of Texas/Austin. degree with a major in chemistry/biology/German and was then commissioned in the military. She attended Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences School of Medicine at Bethesda. Dr. Banta did her internship in Pensacola FL and then became an emergency medicine physician in Pensacola. The Navy chose her to complete her dermatology residency program at Naval Hospital San Diego in 1988. She was appointed to the active-duty faculty of the residency program. As the Outstanding Faculty Award recipient, Dr. Banta was promoted to Commander and later left the Navy. After 17 of the most satisfying years, she practiced in Houston, although her husband, Guy, had a successful business in Houston. Dr. Banta has been active in local communities. She is a Past-President of Clearlake, Texas American Heart Association. She received the Outstanding Regional Volunteer Award. Throughout it all, Dr. Banta has had considerable activity in the San Antonio area, at the Stone Oak Business Association.
